Perhaps in the FAQ area on the main site there could be a description of what an epic poem is? I'm sure as May looms there will be more people who think it's a cool idea but don't know exactly what an epic is, or the norms for one. Just an idea ;D You might gain more participants, too.

That's exactly what I was going to say I agree, there should be some kind of short 'how-to' guide in the FAQ's. That would be nice.

I'm thirding this as I too am uncertain what definition of epic poetry NEPMo is using. Whether it's the traditional definition of "a poem about heroic deeds" or "a narrative poem of epic length".
I'm operating under the assumption that it's the second, as I find the first far too limiting.

I think that would be a great idea, too! Even if NEPMo is one of those things where you go by your own definition, I think it would be great to have that so that people who have the misfortune of not knowing what an epic poem is can find out right on the site before they sign up Kenysmeyn, I agree that NEPMo's probably going with "a narrative poem of epic length".
