Is anyone else having a really hard time with this?
Day 1: 36 lines
I wasn't actually expecting to reach 162 but I was trying for 50ish. I think my problem is really in the form of poem I've chosen. Because I have trouble hearing metrical patterns I decided to do syllabic verse (specifically octosyllabic), which isn't usually used in English.
Because I wanted to give it a little bit of extra "authenticity" I decided to use near rhyming end-lines. Which is the sticky bit. It adds *so* much extra time to composition.
I don't really want to but I think necessity is going to force me to toss the rhyming.

Okay, I tossed the near rhyming couplets in octosyllabic verse. I've switched to nanosyllabic verse with a true rhyme at the end of every stanza. Strangely, an odd number of syllables is easier to manage than an even number. My productivity doubled, although it's still far short of where it should be. I'm also going to lose all of yesterday's work because I'm going to have to rewrite it so it matches.
