I'm pretty sure this fits in the lounge A little discussion to get people talking. Originally I was going to make a game, but the one I thought of is better fit for when NEPMo's going, so I'll wait to post it ;D I thought it would be neat if everyone got to know what others were writing about this year Also in hopes of getting the forums to pick up a bit since it's just over a month until May and NEPMo starts. I'll answer the questions below right here. This is my first year doing NEPMo. All I know about my plot this year is that it will start in the middle, and be about the life of someone who was born with some curse that I haven't decided on yet. I think someone should include a Pegasus in their poem somewhere. What I want to know: Have you done NEPMo or other writing things before? How many times? Give us a short summary of your plot for this year! If you're not quite sure what you're writing about yet (since there's still quite a while to ponder this kind of thing), tell us about anything you're considering. Something that you think someone should include in their epic poem (it can be serious, or it can be completely random). Anything else you want to add. I can't think of any other questions.

Well, it's a little under a week until NEPMo and I'm starting to get a bit nervous (I'm still scrambling with Screnzy).
I've never done this before. In fact, I don't think I've written anything longer then a limerick before so this should be rather interesting.
I'm a bit of a mythology and folklore fan so I'm going to try my hand at writing a creation story. Specifically, how stars are born (more specifically, how Earth's came into being). If you've ever read some of Oscar Wilde's fairy tales (especially The Fisherman's Soul or The Happy Prince) that's the kind of "flavour" I'm going to aim for.
I haven't chosen a poetic form yet (and I do want a single form to stick to). It can't be anything that requires a metrical foot (goodbye iambic pentameter!) because I cannot hear the difference between short/long or stressed/unstressed syllables (used to drive my language teachers nuts).
I'm kind of leaning towards writing a chouka (alternate unrhyming lines of 5/7 syllables, like a really long haiku), but that seems like an easy out. So maybe an octo- or decasyllabic poem with some sort of set rhyming scheme.
*ponder ponder*

I can only really answer the first question, haha. I've done NaNo of 2010, FiMo of 2010, JanNo of 2011, FebNo (and was mod) of 2011, MarNo (and was admin) 2011, in the middle of/won April Fools of 2011. I've won all of these. I'm also part of CraClu, where I'm shooting for 14 WriMo's this year, WriYe, where I'm shooting for 500k, and YeRo, where...well, that's where we all do our WriMo's. Plus the sites of coure. YeRo just offers a little more challenges, and another place to talk. Yes. We're coming up with a better name!

Oh, kenysmeyn your book sounds pretty good! I haven't read the one you compared it to, but I think I might now that I know about it. Mine really has no form... I'm just attempting to rhyme every other line with what at least "looks" like form. So I think it's cool that you're doing that, it actually seems for me like form would be harder than rhyming. At least it would be for me. Marsbareater12, answering just one question is good enough I've never heard of CraClu, sounds interesting! I'll have to check that out. I've heard of YeRo, I think. I'm amazed at how many WriMos you're doing, I myself need a little bit of a break or I fizz out pretty quick. Good luck with all of those! Let me know how it goes

Have you done NEPMo or other writing things before? How many times?
I've won NaNo, FAWM and Screnzy twice each. This is my first NEPMO.
Give us a short summary of your plot for this year!
I'm adapting Elvenbane by Mercedes Lackey and Andre Norton. Basically, it's about a girl who leads a revolution. I'm focusing on the actual writing, and picking out the important story parts, not the story creation. I need a break.
Something that you think someone should include in their epic poem: a writer, scribbling away in their cold attic room, or a similar time and place appropriate person.
Anything else you want to add.
Does anyone know who's running this website, and whether they intend to update the homepage etc... at any point?

Morgan - that sounds really cool (and now I have another book to go check out XD). Congrats on all your wins! I'm not really sure who's running it, but it seems to me that they've been MIA for a while now. I'm pretty sure some people have tried emailing, but that's really all I've heard about the Mods. I wish someone could get them back

Teenpoet, sounds interesting Rose is evil because of the thorns, I'm assuming, good choice! (And I love lilacs, so of course I'm happy that's the name of the good sister ) Looking forward to hearing about more stories! I'm glad to hear from other people doing this, I was a little unsure in the beginning because the forums were so un-active :/ It's 8 days in, almost halfway, hope you're all doing well! (I'm going slowly myself, but at least it's going somewhere )
